Indian Mujahideen's head arrested by Delhi policeNEW DELHI: The special cell of Delhi Police on Tuesday arrested militant outfit Indian Mujahideen’s head Tehseen Akhtar alias Monu, one of India’s most wanted men and believed to have masterminded the serial blasts in Patna and Gaya.

The 23-year-old Akhtar belonged to the Darbhanga module of the banned terrorist outfit and was heading the Indian Mujahideen in the country since last August when its co-founder and the nation’s most wanted man Yasin Bhatkal was arrested near the Nepal border.

The Indian media citing unnamed sources reported that Akhtar was nabbed near the Nepal border but there was no official confirmation yet. The sources said that he was apparently trying to sneak into Pakistan via Kathmandu.

Akhtar was wanted for a series of blasts across India including the October 27, 2013 attack on a Narendra Modi rally in Patna. He was also wanted for the Varanasi blasts in 2010, triple blasts in Mumbai in 2011, Pune blasts on August 1, 2012, Hyderabad’s Dilsukhnagar blasts in February 2013 and Bihar’s Bodh Gaya blasts in July 2013.
