ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Indian border forces have once again violated the ceasefire at the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and resorted to intensified shelling and firing, sources said on Monday.

Sources said that the Indian forces carried out the shelling and firing in Rawalakot’s Abbas Pur Sector and Khuiratta Sector in Kotli. They said that Pakistani troops gave an effective response to the Indian firing.

However, no report of any casualty on either side was received yet.

Meanwhile, the Indian media alleged that Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling and firing by automatic weapons along the LoC in Poonch District of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday.

“There was unprovoked ceasefire violation by Pakistan Army in Digwar sector of Poonch today, using 82 mm mortars, automatic weapons,” an Indian defence spokesman was quoted as saying by The Times of India.

Earlier on April 1, a civilian Attique Qureshi sustained injuries when he fell victim to unprovoked firing by the Indian forces in Chirikot Sector.
