New Delhi, India: A senior Indian military official has publicly praised Israel’s recent operations against Iran and suggested that India should learn from Israeli tactics when dealing with what he described as extremist regimes.
Speaking at the Synergia Conclave in New Delhi, Lieutenant General Vipul Shinghal, AVSM, SM, Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff responsible for Doctrine, Organisation, and Training, said that Israel’s actions against Iran offered important strategic lessons for India.
“What Israel did in Iran is amazing. I believe India has to learn a lot from these Israeli operations to understand how to tackle down these terrorist extremist Islamic regimes,” Lt. Gen. Shinghal said during his remarks at the conference.
His comments come at a time when India and Israel maintain close strategic and defense cooperation, including intelligence sharing, military technology transfers, and joint defense projects. Over the past decade, Israel has emerged as one of India’s largest defense suppliers, providing advanced systems such as drones, missile defense technologies, surveillance equipment, and cyber capabilities.
Analysts note that statements by senior military officials often reflect broader strategic thinking within defense establishments, particularly regarding counter-terrorism doctrines and unconventional warfare.
The remarks have also drawn attention in regional political circles, especially given the sensitive geopolitical context involving Iran and the wider Middle East, where Israel’s military actions and Iran’s regional influence remain major points of international debate.
