RAWALPINDI: Pakistan army on Wednesday rejected the accusations that Pakistani troops were involved in the killing of five Indian soldiers in an attack on an army post in the disputed Kashmir region on Tuesday, saying the accusations were without foundation and utterly baseless, sources said.

The Directors General Military Operations (DGMOs) of Pakistan Major General Ashfaq Nadeem conveyed the sentiments during a special hotline contact with the Indian DGMOs on Wednesday morning.

Pakistan army also lodged a strong protest against Tuesday afternoon’s “unprovoked firing by Indian troops” at the Pando Sector on LoC near Muzaffarabad.

Moreover, Major General Nadeem told his Indian counterpart that Pakistan wholeheartedly respected the ceasefire agreement with India.

On Tuesday, the Foreign Office also rejected allegations of Pakistan’s involvement as “baseless and unfounded”, saying the country’s was committed to its ceasefire promises and wanted to resume peace talks with India soon.
