#BharatBandh

It is pertinent to mention that Dalit call for “Bharat Bandh” (close India) on Monday was against a judicial order that dilutes the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, or SC/ST Act.

According to details, Central government moved to the Supreme Court challenging its 20 March ruling that prevents automatic arrests under the provisions of the 1989 law. The apex court had placed safeguards over arrests made under the law. This move of Modi Sarkar ignited already suppressed Dalits who called for a protest that I snow engulfed by violence due to brutal use of power by authorities of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and even in Rajasthan.

Religious fundamentalists, please note: India is not a theocracy. We are governed by a Constitution. Just like communities and cultural/religious groups have rights as per the Constitution, individuals do too. Indian women are individuals who have Constitutional rights. https://t.co/dRphE5PZZs

The scourge of #caste discrimination is alive and thriving! In the #Thakur-Raj of Yogi Adityanath, a #Dalit wedding procession cannot travel through “their” lanes & streets.

Why do India’s upper-caste dominated newsrooms say #DontLetIndiaBurn only when dalits are out on the streets to protect their rights? Dalits are fighting to be included in the ‘fraternity’ of citizens, from which they have been excluded for centuries.

If you hate Hindus for being Hindus, then I am a Hindu.
If you hate Muslims for being Muslims, then I am a Muslim.
If you discriminate on the basis of birth, then I am a Dalit.
I will exist.
I will prevail.
I am what I am.
You can choke on your own hate.
I am here to stay.
