THE HAGUE: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is in The Hague to attend the third International Nuclear Security Summit, said on Monday that the United States needs to play a role in normalizing relations between Pakistan and India.
Talking to media representatives in The Hague following his meeting with US Secretary of State John Kerry on the sidelines of the summit, the prime minister said that he informed Kerry of Pakistan’s desire to use a third party to resolve the Kashmir dispute with India.
“The Kashmir issue should be resolved. India is unwilling to use a third party to resolve the issue,” Sharif said.
The prime minister further said that he expressed Pakistan’s praise for the US policy of stopping drone attacks in the tribal areas of the country.
“The policy of restraint adopted by the US should continue,” the prime minister added.
