ISLAMABAD: Pakistan said on Thursday that the Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory and not an integral part of India as is claimed by New Delhi.

“Kashmir is a disputed territory and Pakistan does not accept it as a part of India,” the Foreign Office spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said in reply to a question on the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indian-occupied Kashmir during her weekly press briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said that accession of the Jammu and Kashmir to India was illegal.

The spokesperson also pointed out that there are 500 Pakistanis serving penalties in Indian jails and demanded for the release of all those who have completed their sentences.

In addition, she said that the Indian forces violated the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kotli sector last night by unprovoked firing which injured a Pakistan soldier.

Pakistan expresses concern over bloodshed in Iraq

Tasnim Aslam further said that Pakistan has grave concern over bloodshed in Iraq and expects the Iraqi society to shun violence and unite.

“Pakistani pilgrims in Iraq are safe and in case the situation gets [any] worse, then our embassy would help them out,” Aslam said.

Afghanistan never presented any evidences against Pakistan

The spokesperson also rejected allegations leveled by the Afghan authorities that Pakistani troops are involved in armed clashes in Helmand province.

Aslam said that the Afghan authorities have never presented any evidences in this regard.
