Karzai seeks India’s help to train, equip security forces in Afghanistan

KABUL: The Afghan President Hamid Karzai has sought the help of India to train and equip security forces in the war-torn country ahead of withdrawal of NATO troops by the end of this year, the Afghan media reported on Wednesday.

Karzai returned home on Tuesday after completing his two-day visit to New Delhi to attend the inauguration ceremony of India’s new Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his visit, the Afghan president also held separate meetings with Modi and the Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
