IndiaIssue of foreign involvement in Balochistan raised with India: Jalil Abbas

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif raised the issue of foreign intervention in Balochistan province during his meeting with his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh in New York, Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas said.

Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Saturday, the foreign secretary said that Pakistan shared the evidence of Indian interference in Balochistan with relevant parties in New York.

“We have also presented this evidence in the Senate,” he said.

The foreign secretary said that the prime minister will raise the issue of drone strikes during his visit to the US, adding that the prime minister will continue to raise this issue with US President Barack Obama and at other forums.

Jalil Abbas expressed hope that the dialogue process with India would grow. He added that Pakistan had as many concerns about terrorism as India. “The issue of terrorism will not be resolved by hurling accusations.”

Abbas further said that the release of former Taliban second-in-command, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar, was part of the Afghan reconciliation process.
