NEW DELHI, India: The embattling Narendra Modi regime in India yet remains engulfed in nationwide protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and now New Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh is also serving as a venue of staging a sit-in protest against the act.

Meanwhile, the sit-in participants at Shaheen Bagh have also been joined by nearly 300 activists of farmers and students organizations from Indian Punjab.

The activists, who also include 50 women from Bathinda, Mansa, Barnala, Moga and Sangrur districts of Punjab, are from BKU (Ekta Ugrahan), Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union, Naujawan Bharat Sabha, Lok Morcha, Punjab Lok Sabhyachark Manch and Punjab Students Union (Shaheed Randhawa).

The demonstrators, who reached Shaheen Bagh in New Delhi from various districts of Indian Punjab on Wednesday while chanting slogans for freedom, also aimed at to render their moral support to students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) who were subjected to violence by the police for protests against the CAA.

When all of India is struggling and holding protests against CAA, how can Punjab lag behind? We found it our moral duty to stand by those struggling to uphold the spirit of Constitution and JNU students subjected to repression,” the BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) President Joginder Singh Ugrahan said.
