Lahore: Satinder K. Lambah, the special envoy to Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif at his Raiwind residence here on Monday. The Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Mr Lambah conveyed Dr Singh’s warm greetings and good wishes to Mr Sharif which was ‘deeply appreciated’. They discussed ways of taking forward the dialogue process between the two countries. According to a PML-N press release, the meeting was a follow-up to a conversation between Dr Singh and Mr Sharif when the former called to facilitate the latter on his victory in the May 11 elections.

The press release said the PML-N chief and the envoy also discussed ways of promoting peace, friendship and cooperation between the two South Asian neighbours. During the conversation, Mr Sharif had invited Dr Singh to attend his oath-taking ceremony.

Meanwhile, the chief of India’s Council for External Affairs, Dr V. P. Vaidik, called on PML-Q President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Monday.  Chaudhry Shujaat said both countries should hold talks on all outstanding issues, including Kashmir and water. His sons, Shafay Hussain and Salik Hussain, were present.

Dr Vaidik said the political leadership of India wished to have good relations with Pakistan and it hoped the newly elected leadership in Pakistan would move ahead on p oblems of the region.
