The hate-mongering Indian media suffered another embarrassment when one of its prominent outlets was fined in the United Kingdom for airing an anti-Pakistan program.

The Republic TV – a right-wing England-language Indian News Channel with a strong allegiance to fascism and Hindutva ideology as now fueled by Narendra Modi’s regime at all fronts – ran an anti-Pakistan content on its Show ‘Poochta Hai Bharat’ on September 6, 2019 via the Republic Bharat Channel, the Hindi version of the Republic TV aimed at targeting the Hindi Community in the UK.

The Republic Bharat propagated through its Show that all Pakistani people are terrorists including “their scientists, doctors, their leaders, politicians […] Even their sports people”.

Therefore, the UK regulator Ofcom slapped a fine of £20,000 on the Republic Bharat for “a sustained and repeated attack on Pakistani people”.

The Channel was licensed to broadcast in the UK by the Worldview Media Network but the Network has now been banned from airing the show in the UK again.

The Republic TV is owned by Arnab Goswami, a firebrand Television News Anchor, who was arrested on November 4, 2020 and charged with abetment to suicide in connection with the 2018 deaths of an interior designer and the designer’s mother.

Meanwhile, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Syed Shibli Faraz in a statement on Twitter said that the notice of Ofcom is a manifestation of India’s disgrace at the global level.

Shibli Faraz said that Ofcom has exposed Indian Channel Republic TV’s hate narrative against Pakistan.
