Hindu extremists attack political party’s office over leader’s Kashmir remarks

GHAZIABAD, India: The Aam Aadmi Party’s (APP) Kaushambi office in Ghaziabad, a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, was attacked by around 40 activists of Hindu Raksha Dal on Wednesday to protest against party leader Prashant Bhushan’s remarks on referendum in Kashmir.

The APP leader Prashant Bhushan in one his recent statements had said that a referendum should be carried out in Kashmir to decide on deployment of the army to deal with security threats in the Valley.

In response to his remarks, the activists on Wednesday attacked the APP’s Kaushambi office in Ghaziabad with bricks and stones, broke flower pots kept outside the party’s office and tore party posters.

Following the attack on the APP’s office, Ghaziabad Police claimed to have detained two persons in connection with the incident, including the national convenor of Hindu Raksha Dal.
