Five more injured as India again opens unprovoked firing near Sialkot working boundary

SIALKOT, Pakistan: The Indian border security forces personnel again resorted to unprovoked firing in Charwa and Bijwat sectors near Sialkot working boundary on Monday, injuring at least five people including three Pakistani civilians and two Chenab Rangers personnel.

A Rangers spokesperson said that many houses in villages along the border were also damaged.

On Saturday, Pakistan said that there should be an urgent meeting of the Director General Military Operations (DGMOs) of both Pakistan and India as ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and working boundary between the two countries continue intermittently.

The aim behind the meeting as suggested by Pakistan is to discuss the situation and halt firing along the working boundary and the LoC.

“DGMOs of both countries should meet immediately discuss ways and means to stop the current spate of firing along the working boundary and Pakistan is also sending a proposal to India for the meeting,” the media quoted the prime minister’s advisor on national security and foreign affairs Sartaj Aziz as saying.
