3-day ‘India Show’ in Lahore is a big success

Lahore: Not hundreds but thousands of buyers and visitors are seen on the second day of second India Show in Lahore so one can say 3-day ‘India Show’ in Lahore is a big success.

Around 130 stalls spread over a huge Lahore Expo Centre are receiving visitors from morning despite of chilling weather of Lahore.

Products from India including herbal medicine, gems, embroidery, paints, electric products and engineering are showcasing in the show and prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif put off many Indian products out o Negative list and allowed Indians to present their products in Lahore Show. It may be mentioned that there are many items that are on Negative list of Pakistan so these can not be imported to Pakistan but just for making this event successful, Prime Minister had to intervened himself and allowed such items to reach Lahore via Wagha border.

“Strengthen bilateral economic cooperation with Pakistan and collectively harness the potential of the region, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and with the support from the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) and Trade Development Authority of India (TDAP), is organising this show”, stated one of the Indian stall holders who is also a member of organizing committee while talking to Dispatch News Desk (DND). Show will conclude on February 16, 2014. Trade between the two countries has already accelerated showing an annual growth rate of 25 per cent in the last 10 years.  This year a strong presence of Indian industry has been ensured with more than 100 Indian companies representing sectors as diverse as tourism and hospitality, textiles, transport, agriculture and allied services, healthcare, gems and jewellery, readymade garments, steel industry, warehousing, handlooms, construction equipments, jute products, wedding concepts, industrial paints and consumer durables. Indian stalls are manned also by woman entrepreneurs.
