Imran's threat tantamount to declaration of war on Pakistan: Shahbaz

LAHORE, Pakistan: The Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that the threat of shutting down the country by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan is tantamount to declaration of war on Pakistan, says a report published by Radio Pakistan.

On Sunday night, Imran Khan while addressing a massive public gathering in Islamabad reiterated his demand of an investigation into alleged election rigging and announced countrywide shutdown on December 16 if his demands are not met.

In a meeting with the federal minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal in Lahore on Monday, the Punjab chief minister said that Imran Khan has threatened to close down the entire country on the same date when the enemies of Pakistan dismembered it, referring to the separation movement in the former East Pakistan which led to the fall of Dhaka on December 16, 1971.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the PTI chief has exposed his anti-state agenda. He vowed to thwart his ‘Plan C’ after the worst failure of London Plan.

The chief minister said that regretfully, Imran Khan has forgotten the national interest in the politics of turmoil and the people will bury such a destructive politics.

On the occasion, Iqbal said that no businessman will pay heed to the call of Imran Khan and Imran has become a failed picture of desperation and poorness.

Both the leaders discussed the situation of the country, political affairs and development projects during the meeting.
