ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday barred Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) from locking down the Federal Capital on November 2.

The IHC Judge Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui announced the decision while hearing petitions filed against PTI’s planned November 2 sit-in in Islamabad.

In his remakes, Justice Siddiqui said that no one would be allowed in any case to siege the Federal Capital.

Justice Siddiqui also summoned the PTI Chairman Imran Khan to appear before the court on October 31 and explain his statement about Islamabad lockdown.

Moreover, the high court also ordered the Secretary Interior that there should be no container in Islamabad on November 2.

It directed that the district administration should designate a specific place for the PTI public meeting. It further said that no educational institution would be closed on the day of the protest.

The PTI plans to shut down Islamabad on November as part of its efforts to pressurize the federal government to initiate an impartial inquiry into Panama Papers. Imran Khan has demanded Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to leave his Office or present himself for accountability.

However, four citizens including Raja Maqsood Hussain, Tasleem Abbasi, Faiz Ahmed Cheema and Muhabullah filed separate petitions in the IHC, seeking to stop the PTI from shutting down Islamabad.

Earlier on Wednesday, Justice Siddiqui while hearing the cases remarked that holding protest was the right of every political party but it should not violate the basic rights of citizens.
