ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Thursday issued a stay order in the Cipher Case, halting the proceedings in the trial against the former Prime Minister Imran Khan till January 11, 2024.

The decision was pronounced by the IHC Judge Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb at the Adiala district jail.

Earlier, a Rawalpindi Court rejected the Punjab Police’s plea seeking Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi’s custody and sent the former foreign minister to the Adiala jail on 14-day judicial remand in a fresh case linked to May 9 riots.

The development comes a day after Shah Mahmood Qureshi was manhandled and re-arrested outside the Adiala Jail in connection with an attack on the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on May 9.

It’s worth mentioning that the three-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on December 22 granted bail to the former Prime Minister Imran Khan and the former Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the Cipher Case.
