Politics‘I stand by decision to boycott Joint Session’, says Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has said that he stands firm in his decision to boycott the joint session of the Parliament, arguing all parliamentary parties have already expressed their resolve to stand by the people of Kashmir in the recent all parties’ conference (APC).

“I stand by decision to boycott Joint Session as nothing new will be achieved that was not achieved with PTI’s active participation in APC,” Imran Khan said in a twitter message on Wednesday.

The joint session of the Parliament will be held in Islamabad at 4:30 pm on Wednesday evening to discuss unprovoked aggression of Indian security forces across the Line of Control (LoC) and deteriorating situation in Occupied Kashmir.

On Tuesday while talking to newsmen in Islamabad, Imran Khan announced the PTI’s intent to boycott a joint session of the Parliament.

“We have a clear line on the prime minister. We thought if we attend tomorrow, we would be endorsing him. But he has lost his moral authority because of the Panama leaks,” Imran said.

Imran Khan’s announcement to boycott the joint session of the Parliament triggered a debate in news talk shows that since PTI had attended the meeting of Parliamentary Parties’ leaders on Sunday and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak also participated in a meeting to review implementation of National Action Plan (NAP), the PTI’s decision was beyond understanding.

Earlier sources said that the federal government has decided to contact with the PTI to convince the party to attend the joint session. However, Imran Khan through his official twitter account ruled out any possibility of attending the session.

Imran Khan further said that “But I want to ask how any politician with a moral compass can accept a PM who has been caught money laundering in Panama Papers.” “Mian Panama Sharif has been caught money laundering, tax evading & hiding of assets thereby losing all moral legitimacy to be PM.”

The PTI Chief said that “He (Nawaz Sharif) has only 2 options now, as 2 other democratic PMs had after Panama leaks: to go the Cameron route presenting himself for accountability.” “Or to resign like PM of Iceland did. He cannot seek shelter behind Indian aggression in IOK/LoC esp as he failed to respond firmly to it.”imran-khans-tweets
