Happy International Women’s Day 2014!

ISLAMABAD: The International Women’s Day is being celebrated on Saturday in many countries around the world including in Pakistan to acknowledge women’s contribution and recognize their achievements.

   

The theme for 2014 International Women’s Day is “Equality for women is progress for all”.

Various political parties, social welfare organizations and women’s rights activists are organizing seminars and holding rallies to highlight problems of women and their role in national building.

In his address to a function in connection with international women day in Islamabad on Saturday, President Mamnoon Hussain said the government is committed to protect and safeguard the rights of women.

The president said that a number of initiatives have been taken for social‚ political and economic empowerment of women. He said that the government is determined to mainstream women’s issues in its policies.
