Karachi: Hamid Mir shot and injured in Karachi. Police said he got three bullets including one in his stomach.  According to Geo television, unknown armed men ambushed Hamid Mir vehicle at Natha Khan bridge and he received bullet injuries and was shifted to a private hospital. He is senior anchor and a seasonsed journalist currently working with largest media house of the country that is Geo Television and Jang group of publication.

His younger brother Amir Mir who is also a journalist claims that Hamid Mir visited him and informed him of a plan by ISI chief Lt. General Zaheerul Islam to assassinate him. While ISPR called raising allegation against ISI as “misleading”. According to a press release published on ISPR website hours after the attack on Hamid Mir, the spokesman said that an independent inquiry must immediately be carried out to ascertain facts. However raising allegations against ISI or head of ISI without any basis is highly regrettable and misleading, said spokesman of ISPR.

A website from Pakistan that is being considered as tool of some intelligence networking has been instigating people to kill Hamid Mir since long. This website on its coloumn dated April 12, 2014 claimed that Hamid Mir is advisor of Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Hamid Mir had been under threat since long like many journalists and State of Pakistan has bowed down to them who want to silence all voice of justice in the country.

When contacted Imtiaz Alam was of the view that attack on journalists and anchor persons are actually a new design of some forces to silence the voice of democracy and  journalist community must stand together before it is tool late.

Agha Iqrar Haroon Special Correspondent of Dispatch News Desk and member of National Press Club Islamabad was of the view that situation was very complex in the country where irregular armies of extremists are walking around to kill anybody who talks and writes about them.
