Lahore, Pakistan: Top anchor of Geo Television Hamid Mir resigned from Geo today while Nadeem Malik who was top anchor of SAMAA TV left his organization, said sources in Geo television. However, official confirmation is yet to be received from Hamid Mir for leave channel. It looks that Nadeem Malik will replace Hamid Mir at Geo screen.

 

Hamid Mir had association with Geo News since the launching of the channel around 14 years ago. Hamid Mir had been working with Jang group before joining Ausaf newspaper and then went back to Jang group with Geo Television was launched.

Media circles claim that Hamid Mir has joined GNN (Gourmet News Network) as President of the channel which will on air soon.

According to available information, Hamid Mir had serious conversation with owners of Jang group of Publication which owns Geo television over the suspension of salaries among staff of television channel for the last four months. he was also not happy over editorial policy of Geo television since a year or so. Hamid believes that freedom of expression is being compromised in country and he is very vocal over this issue while Geo television was (is) denying such narrative and believes that there is no issue of freedom of expression in the country.

It may be mentioned that Hamid Mir was also vocal over non disbursement of salaries among staff members for the last several months and Supreme Court of Pakistan asked Hamid Mir to resolve salaries issue and he had been under moral pressure from several quarters because owners were not listening him and refused to release salaries to staff members.
