Ground-breaking ceremony of Thar Coal Block-II on Jan 31

KARACHI: The ground-breaking ceremony of coal mining at Thar Coal Block-II will be held on January 31, 2014 in which officials from other provinces would also be invited.

It was decided at a meeting of the steering committee of Thar Coal Energy Board (TCEB) presided by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah in Karachi.

The officials said that up to 660 megawatts of electricity will be generated in the first phase from the project. In the second phase‚ the capacity to generate electricity from Block-II will be raised up to 1,320 megawatt.

Moreover, 230 kilometres transmission line will be laid to link the power to national grid for distribution.
