Pakistan is among the countries that are taking the direct impact of the crisis. Pakistani gamers and gaming experts have long been waiting for graphic card prices to drop. Despite the helpless wait, the situation is about to get worse. The government of Pakistan has increased the taxes on graphic cards. Let’s discover why graphic card taxes increased in Pakistan.

Duties Imposed By Pakistan Customs

Formerly, the state authorities, including Pakistan Customs, did not impose any duties on the import of graphic cards. There were no specific regulation clauses to guide the local importers. However, Pakistan Customs have now imposed taxes and duties on the import of graphic cards in Pakistan. The authority will monitor and charge taxes based on the type and potential of the graphic cards. Generally, graphic cards classify into different tiers based on the GPU’s VRAM capacity.

Here is the new list of imposed taxes on the import of graphic cards in Pakistan. You can calculate the exact amounts by multiplying the total assessed card value by 36% and multiplying it further by the current US Dollar exchange rate.

  • 4GB = $65
  • 6GB = $98
  • 8GB = $198
  • 10GB = $262
  • 12GB = $382
  • 16GB = $468
  • 24GB = $542

Fines Imposed on Local Distributors

A while ago, news surfaced in the local media that local distributors had held about 700 RTX graphic cards in their warehouses. Pakistan Customs recovered the shipments. In the recent proceedings, the government has also imposed a fine worth PKR 4 million on local graphic card distributors.
