Govt, Taliban peace talks on Wednesday

ISLAMABAD: The negotiators from the government and the Taliban will hold their second meeting on Wednesday.

In the first meeting held last week, both sides agreed to continue dialogue process within the framework of Pakistan’s constitution.

Meanwhile, speaking on the floor of Senate, the state minister for interior Balighur Rehman said that dialogue should not be construed as weakness of the government, adding that the government also has the second option if the first option failed to produce results.

The state minister said that members of the government’s dialogue committee will meet the government functionaries today to present demands of the other party.

Balighur Rehman said that all political parties had mandated the government to go for the dialogue but it is surprising that some political leaders are opposing the process contrary to the stance of their respective parties.
