Governor’s rule imposed to further suppress will of Kashmiri people: Pakistan

Foreign OfficeGovernor’s rule imposed to further suppress will of Kashmiri people: Pakistan

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Foreign Office has said that the so-called governor’s rule in Indian Occupied Kashmir is one of the ploys adopted by New Delhi from time to time to further suppress the will of the Kashmiri people.

The governor’s rule was imposed in Indian Occupied Kashmir on June 19 by the Indian President Ram Nath Kovind following the collapse of the Mehbooba Mufti-led People’s Democratic Party government after the withdrawal of Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) support in the occupied region.

“Imposition of governor rule and the ongoing bloodshed in IoK along with statements emanating from India about the a ‘crackdown’ on Kashmiris in IoK (Indian Occupied Kashmir), indicate an alarming Indian imperviousness to international opinion, as it continues with its gross violations of human rights in IoK,” the Foreign Office Spokesman Dr Muhammad Faisal said at his weekly media briefing in Islamabad on Thursday.

The Spokesman said that Pakistan is closely monitoring the developments in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He said that such steps are likely to result in enhanced Indian brutalities and a virtual free hand to Indian security forces against innocent Kashmiris.

Dr Faisal said that the level of repression in Indian Occupied Kashmir has already significantly gone up in the last 2-3 days while the Indian security officials are threatening even more stringent actions.

The Foreign Office Spokesman said that the international community must urge India to put an immediate halt to the bloodshed in Occupied Kashmir and ensure an expedited establishment of the Commission of Enquiry, to ensure that the Human Rights Charter is not reduced to meaningless words.
