ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The World Bank South Asia Regional Director for Infrastructure Guanghze Chen along with a Senior level World Bank Officers called on Federal Minister Maritime Affairs Syed Ali Haider Zaidi in Islamabad on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The Secretary Ministry of Maritime Affairs Rizwan Ahmed and the Joint Secretary Zahid Masood were also present.

In the meeting, Guanghze Chen offered help to improve the efficiency of the ports and logistics from the World Bank.

The minister agreed on improving the efficiency of the ports and identified key areas where the World Bank’s support could be of great help.

While sharing his vision for Blue Economy, the minister apprised Mr. Chen about the growth challenges that Pakistan faces and the work that is being done.

Syed Ali Haider Zaidi thanked the support offered by World Bank.

The federal also discussed the importance of CPEC in the region, connecting the Central Asian Republics to Pakistani ports, giving them access to huge markets.

The minister believed Pakistan is on the road to become a Maritime Power and the partnership with China plays a pivotal role in achieving that goal.

Guanghze Chen agreed with the potential CPEC brings to the Maritime Sector in Pakistan and emphasized on ensuring to capitalize on the infrastructure development that comes with CPEC.
