The Minister for Aviation Khawaja Saad Rafique has assured that employees will not be laid-off as the federal government plans to outsource the Islamabad International Airport for 15 years.
Responding to a Calling Attention Notice in the National Assembly on Friday, the minister said that about 12 companies have shown their interest in the operations of the Islamabad International Airport.
The minister said the outsourcing process of Islamabad International Airport will be completed in next two and a half month. He said that it is the first airport in Pakistan to be outsourced and best international practices will be implemented.
“No employee will be unemployed, everyone will continue to get job security and their salaries and benefits will continue to be provided as per law,” he said.
Saad Rafique said that outsourcing does not necessarily mean mortgaging airports or making employees redundant.
The aviation minister said that airports of Lahore and Karachi will also be outsourced, stressing that best international practices will be emulated at our airports.
