ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul has said that the federal government is taking various measures as part of the Clean and Green Pakistan campaign.
In a Ceremony titled “Plastic Free Pakistan” held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday, the state minister said that use and selling of polythene bags will be banned from August 14 in Islamabad.
Zartaj Gul said that they are providing an alternative to polythene bags, which would be environment-friendly. She said that polythene bags are causing environmental disaster and damage to the sewerage system.

The Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that every citizen has a role to perform to make Pakistan clean and green. He said that an effective awareness campaign should be run to sensitize people about hazards of polythene bags.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that a campaign of giving up use of polythene bags is going to be started from August 14 in Islamabad, which is a great initiative.
