ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the historic development in the Afghan peace process is a victory of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s narrative, and a reflection of Pakistan army’s exemplary role.

The United States and the Afghan Taliban will sign a peace agreement in Doha on Saturday, a long-desired development to ensure lasting peace in Afghanistan.

In a tweet on Friday, Dr Firdous said that Pakistan welcomes the signing of the US-Taliban peace deal on February 29.

The Special Assistant said that the Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi will represent Pakistan in the peace deal signing ceremony in Doha.

Dr Firdous said that the ceremony will be attended by the Amir of the State of Qatar His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the foreign ministers of seven Countries and representatives of 50 Countries.

Furthermore, she said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has always been an advocate of dialogue. She said that they would continue to play a positive role in promoting sustainable peace and stability in the region.
