ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Blome held a meeting with the Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja in Islamabad on Wednesday.

In the meeting, the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest and related to Information Technology (IT) and Telecommunication, digitalization of Pakistan’s judicial system and promotion of gaming industry.

They agreed to enhance cooperation in the IT and Telecommunication Sector.

Ambassador Donald Blome conveyed the United States’ desire to broaden cooperation in the IT Sector.

The envoy also noted Pakistan’s immense potential for growth in the digital economy, and the leading role of US firms in bringing investment and innovation to the sector.

In her remarks, the Minister of State for IT Shaza Fatima said that the IT and Telecom Sector of Pakistan is progressing. She said that Pakistan wanted to enhance its relations with US in the field of IT and Telecom.

Shaza Fatima said that Pakistan wanted to work on promotion of gaming industry with the collaboration of United States. She also emphasized upon increasing business to business relations between Pakistan and the US.

Pakistan aspired to benefit from the experiences of America in the field of technology, and exchange of IT experts between the two Countries.

The Minister of State for IT said that the present government is focusing on digitalization in the Country. She maintained that economy, governance and society are being digitalised under Prime Minister’s National Digitalization Plan.

Shaza Fatima noted that the connectivity is the foundation of digitalization, adding that steps are on for provision of connectivity and quality broadband services in the Country.
