ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman of Hayat Bio-Tech and a Member of the Ruling Family of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) His Highness Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook al Maktoum along with a delegation called on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Friday.

Welcoming the delegation, the prime minister said that the brotherly relations between Pakistan and the UAE are deep rooted in history.UAE’s Hayat Bio-Tech keen to invest in Pakistan’s Pharmaceutical SectorThe prime minister underlined that Pakistan attaches great importance to further expanding brotherly ties with the UAE in diverse fields including trade and investment.

Shahbaz Sharif welcomed the keen interest of Hayat Bio-Tech to invest in Pakistan’s pharmaceutical sector, especially in vaccine manufacturing. He also invited the visiting delegation to invest in the renewable energy sector and assured that foreign investors will be provided all possible facilitation.

The Chairman Hayat Bio-Tech said that they are aware of huge investment potential of Pakistan and UAE was looking forward to further expanding its footprint in the energy and health sectors.

Sheikh Ahmed Dalmook al Maktoum expressed keen desire to further expand UAE’s investment portfolio in Pakistan.

The dignitary also briefed the Prime Minister about their ongoing 1200 MW power plant project undertaken in collaboration with the Sindh government which would be a hybrid power plant of solar and wind energy.

The Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar, the Minister for National Health Services Abdul Qadir Patel, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and Senior Officials of the concerned government departments also attended the meeting.

Chief of the Air Staff expressed his gratitude for the honour of receiving the Bahrain Medal - First Class. On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
