ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The government has initiated the dialogue with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in accordance with the Constitution and the law, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhary Fawad Hussain said.

In a video message on Monday, the information minister said that the negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan have started in line with Prime Minister Imran Khan’s announcement in an interview last month.

The information said that no government can undertake any negotiations beyond the limits of the Constitution and law.

The minister also said that both the government and the banned TTP have agreed on a complete ceasefire as per understanding. He said that the ceasefire will be extended in view of the progress in talks.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that sovereignty of the state, security, and peace in the affected areas, as well as social and economic stability, will be kept in view during the talks. He said that affected people of these areas will never be ignored and the local people will be taken into confidence in these talks.

The information minister said that it’s a welcoming sign that the affected areas of the Country are now heading toward complete peace after a long time. He said that the Afghan interim government has played a facilitative role in these talks.
