Government of PakistanSupreme Court to decide Panama Papers Case as per law: Minister

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Supreme Court of Pakistan would decide the Panama Papers Case as per law and the Constitution, the Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said on Tuesday.

While talking to media representatives outside the Supreme Court building in Islamabad, the minister said some political actors were bent upon harming democracy but the nation would celebrate victory of democracy and supremacy of the Constitution.

Abid Sher Ali said four generations of Sharif family were subjected to the accountability.

The Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Mohsin Shahnawaz Ranjha said Sharif family filed objections to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report before the Supreme Court bench pointing out that JIT had transgressed its mandate.

Separately talking to media, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Daniyal Aziz said there was nothing in the JIT report.

Daniyal Aziz again demanded the release of volume 10 of JIT report as well as video recording to the public.

The PML-N leader questioned how it was possible for the JIT to complete its investigation in 60 days.

Daniyal said the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) at first had revealed Moonis Elahi’s Offshore Companies but except Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, no one else went through the probe.
