LAHORE, Pakistan: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Ahsan Iqbal has said dreams can be materialised only through commitment and strong determination.

He said this in a discussion on a topic “A world of tomorrow seeking inspiration and equilibrium in a new age” held at Royal Palm Club on Saturday.

He said stability and continuity were essential for ensuring development in the country adding that the country had a lot of potential.

The minister said the government and people had took conscious decision that they want peace.

“We want peaceful relations with all neighbouring countries and progress is not possible in war”, he added.

The minister while responding to a question posed by an attendee said: “World of tomorrow is different from the world of yesterday and today.”

He said speed was necessary for bringing about prosperity and development and now the time was coming when fast will lead the slow.

The minister said despite of challenges the country had success stories as well and added that the present government had doubled the budget of higher education in three years.

To another query, he said strengthening of institutions was significant to overcome corruption adding that vibrant and robust civil society was necessary for ensuring transparency.

Reform, development and stability should be synchronised, it was the crux of the discussion.

Later, talking to the media, the minister said: “It is not a national service to make the national institutions controversial”.

He said the PPP should understand that people do not want disruption in the country.

Preparations for 2018 general election should be made and people would give their decision through votes, he added.

The minister said the prime minister had clearly said that cooperation would be made with the Supreme Court.

Ahsan Iqbal said problems should be solved through a proper platform adding that whosoever would do politics of anarchy would get nothing.
