ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Syed Shibli Faraz has said that the opposition is resorting to negative propaganda on the issue of loans taken by the present government.
Talking to media representatives in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that Rs 6 trillion were used to pay back the past loans and the interest on them.
Shibli Faraz said that Rs 1.2 trillion were provided to support different sectors especially the disadvantaged segments of the society in the wake of breakout COVID-19.
The information minister said that the economy stands stabilized as a result of effective policies of the government. He said that the benefits of improvement in economic indicators will reach the masses.
In reply to a question, Shibli Faraz said that there is no consensus amongst the opposition parties as they are pursuing conflicting narratives and interests.
When asked about the Broadsheet issue, the information minister said that an Inquiry Commission to be headed by Justice (retd) Azmat Saeed Sheikh will investigate into it.
The minister said that the past rulers were involved in corruption and money laundering on a large scale and this should be investigated.
