ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Shabbar Zaidi will continue to serve in his current position, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Political Affairs Naeem Ul Haq said on Thursday.
In a tweet, Naeem Ul Haq dispelled the rumours being circulated in a section of media that Zaidi will relinquish his responsibility as the Chairman FBR as he will likely be elevated to the Post of Minister of State for Revenue or be appointed as the Prime Minister’s Special Advisor on Revenue.
However, Naeem Ul Haq tweeted saying “Shabbar Zaidi not being changed. He will remain in his position.”

Earlier citing sources, media reports also stated that the Business Community had voiced reservations to Prime Minister Imran Khan with regard to Shabbar Zaidi’s method of handling things. In addition, as per sources, there also existed a distrust between the Chairman FBR and the Members of the Board.
Furthermore, media reports had also named Jahanzeb Khan, Younus Dagha, Seema Shakil; Javed Ghani, and Mujtaba Memon as potential candidates to replace Zaidi as the Chairman FBR.
Always a fan of reshuffles – they tend to trim the fat cats into shape – but Zaidi has been impressing business & state quarters alike with his acumen. Removal – unless he’s further empowered – will be a blow to Pakistan’s shaky tax regime. Tread w/ care. https://t.co/ZIiwnLnBGR
