Government of PakistanSania Nishtar briefs KPK Parliamentarians on Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Registration

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Senator Dr. Sania Nishtar on Friday briefed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Parliamentarians on the Ehsaas Rashan Riayat Registration at the KPK Assembly Secretariat in Peshawar.

The Speaker KPK Assembly Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani, the Deputy Speaker Mehmood Jan, the Provincial Finance & Health Minister Taimur Saleem Jhagra, and senior officials of the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) were also present in the briefing.

Speaking to the provincial parliamentarians, Dr. Sania Nishtar urged them to support Ehsaas in registering Kiryana shops and deserving families province-wide.

This was Dr. Sania Nishtar’s second interaction with the provincial parliamentarians this week. Yesterday, she met with provincial parliamentarians of Punjab in Lahore and briefed them on the federal-provincial collaboration under the Rashan programme.

The Special Assistant comprehensively explained the registration and operational modalities of the programme.

“Kiryana merchants can register in the programme through web-portal: https://ehsaasrashan.pass.gov.pk/. Karyana merchants operating anywhere in the country need to have a bank account for registration. Those without bank accounts are being facilitated to open their accounts in branches of NBP,” she said.

Kiryana owners will also earn substantive commission on Ehsaas’ subsidies as an incentive. Lucky draws will also be held every three months to give away cars, motorcycles, mobile phones, and several other prizes to best performing Kiryana owners.

Regarding family registration, Dr. Sania briefed, “Families with monthly income less than Rs. 50,000 can register either through 8171 or the web portal with their CNIC and a cell phone number issued on the same.”

Responding to a question, she emphasized that only one member of a family can enroll for Rashan. The applicant families will be sent eligibility messages from 8171.

According to the new criteria approved by the Cabinet, deserving families of foreign travelers, low-income government employees, and those with high cell phone bills can also enroll in the Rashan programme.

Dr. Sania Nishtar thanked the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for their participation in the programme. Like other participating provinces, Ehsaas and KPK are sharing the cost in the proportion of 35:65.

The Parliamentarians lauded the transparency measures hardwired in the programme and ensured full cooperation to create awareness on the execution of programme.

Through Ehsaas Rahsan, 20 million eligible families will avail a subsidy of Rs 1,000 a month on the purchase of wheat flour, cooking oil/ghee, and pulses from designated Karyana stores.

This fiscal year, the budget of the programme is Rs 120 billion. Under the stewardship of Ehsaas, the programme is being implemented in partnership with the NBP.

Ehsaas and NBP have also developed a mobile point of sale system (mPOS) app to serve Rashan beneficiaries through a network of designated Kiryana shops.
