ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Friday said sanctity of respected institutions must not be put on stake for political rivalry or point scoring.

In his address at a ceremony held in Islamabad, the president said the Parliament was the biggest of all institutions and all the other institutions must obey it, adding keeping political differences aside democractic process must be promoted.

“No hindrance should be created in the real role of Parliament and that is legislation,” the president said.

Mamnoon Hussain further said the act of criticizing recently-held Senate Elections by some of the political leaders was inappropriate. He said the Senate Elections had been a milestone in strengthening the democracy.

“The Senate has the position of Council of elders,” President Mamnoon said.

Moreover, the president said for national consensus circle of consultations must be expanded.
