ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The ration packages were distributed amongst newspaper hawkers in Islamabad on Friday to somewhat mitigate their hardships caused by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
While addressing the ceremony held in connection with the distribution of ration packages amongst newspaper hawkers, the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Syed Shibli Faraz said that despite limited resources, it is the priority of the government to protect the vulnerable segments of the society during these testing times.
The minister said that under the Ehsaas Program, cash assistance is being provided to the deserving families in the most efficient and transparent manner.
The information minister said that the services of newspaper hawkers will also be acknowledged and a cash assistance program will soon be launched for them.
Shibli Faraz said that given the services rendered by newspaper hawkers, he has a special respect for this segment of the society.
Furthermore, the minister also asked the people to continue to follow the precautionary measures. He said that we will have to not only fight the Coronavirus but also move forward.
