Government of PakistanQatar willing to invest in Gwadar port: Envoy

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Qatari Ambassador Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrehman bin Faisal Al-Thani has said that his Country wants to further expand its bilateral ties with Pakistan and is willing to invest in Gwadar port.

The ambassador made these remarks in a meeting with President Dr. Arif Alvi at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the president said that Pakistan attaches significant importance to its ties with Qatar and wants to transform the existing relations into a robust political and economic partnership.

The president invited Qatar to take advantage of the emerging investment opportunities in Pakistan. He informed the ambassador that tremendous potential of cooperation exists between Pakistan and Qatar in various fields that needs to be capitalized upon for the mutual benefit of the two sides.

Dr. Arif Alvi also apprised the Qatari ambassador of the atrocities against Muslims in Indian Occupied Kashmir.

President Arif Alvi also appreciated the role of Qatar in hosting the Afghan peace talks. He expressed the hope that all parties to the agreement would abide by its provisions and turn the dream of peace in Afghanistan into reality.

The president reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the promotion of peace and stability in Afghanistan.
