ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Special Assistant on Accountability Shahzad Akbar has said that the video released by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Maryam Nawaz about the Accountability Judge Arshad Malik should be property investigated so that designs behind it could be ascertained.

While addressing a News Conference along with the Federal Minister for Communications Murad Saeed in Islamabad on Monday, Shahzad Akbar said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan or the Islamabad High Court (IHC) should take its notice for an investigation.

In an explosive Press Conference in Lahore on Saturday, Maryam Nawaz played a confessional video of the Accountability Court Judge Arshad Malik in which he confessed to a PML-N worker that he was “pressurized and blackmailed” to convict the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Al-Azizia reference.

However, in his response Arshad Malik termed the video fake and assumptive, and said that the video attributed to him, he said it is contrary to facts.

Arshad Malik said that Maryam Nawaz’s Press Conference was aimed at making his decisions controversial and to achieve political motives. He said that a legal action should be taken action the elements behind that video.

Shahzad Akbar further said that the Country’s institutions are working independently and the accountability process is continuing. He said that Pakistan is under debt of Rs 30,000 billion due to the two families of the Country.

In his remarks, Murad Saeed categorically stated that the process of accountability will go ahead and the plundered amount will be recovered from the corrupt elements. He said that the recovered amount will be spent on the welfare of the people and to bring improvement in the health and education sectors.

Murad Saeed said that recoveries of millions of rupees have alone been made in National Highway Authority (NHA).

The federal minister said that the people of good repute are being appointed in the institutions to help them stand on their own feet.

The Minister for Communications said that the former Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal caused loss of Rs 50 billion to the national exchequer. He said that Ahsan Iqbal also gave contracts of different projects to his brother ignoring all relevant rules and regulations.
