ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan paid a day-long visit to Gwadar on Monday to review progress on different development projects.

During his visit, the prime minister was briefed on the ongoing development projects in the area where he also interacted with the authorities concerned and the workforce of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

The prime minister inaugurated Gwadar Free Zone, Expo Center, Agriculture Industrial Park and three factories.

The prime minister also witnessed signing of various Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) aimed at constructing a state of the art hospital, airport, and a vocational institute as well as addressing the water and power problems of Gwadar.

It is pertinent to mention that these projects will be established on 2,200 acres of land.

Meanwhile, the Chairman Gwadar Port Authority Naseer Khan Kashani briefed the envoys of different countries and the senior journalists about Gwadar Port Operations and expansion projects in Gwadar.

The briefing was attended by the Special Assistant on Political Communication Shahbaz Gill and the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Egypt, Kenya, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.

Last Saturday, the Chairman CPEC Authority Asim Saleem Bajwa said while briefing media persons in Hoshab that the development of road infrastructure in Balochistan is a key priority of the government to improve Gwadar port’s connectivity with other parts of the Country.

The Chairman CPEC Authority said that in order to uplift the underdeveloped areas of Balochistan, the government under the special directives of Prime Minister Imran Khan has prepared a development package comprising over Rs six billion.

Asim Saleem Bajwa said that 31 dams would be constructed in nine under-developed districts of Balochistan. He said that out of the total, construction work on 15 dams has already been started and work on the remaining 16 dams will be launched very soon.
