DI KHAN, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday distributed Kisan Cards amongst the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In the first phase, the Kisan Cards are being distributed amongst 200,000 farmers out of 500,000 registered farmers of the province.
The Kisan Cards could be used in all Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across the Country.

Under the Kisan Card Scheme, the following facilities are being provided to farmers;
Phase-I
- Improvement of farmers database
- Provision of subsidies on inputs such as agriculture machinery
Phase-II
- Provision of interest-free loans
- Crop insurance
- Financial assistance in natural calamities
In addition, a subsidy of Rs 1048.38 million is being provided to farmers during the financial year 2021-22 for the promotion of agriculture in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Prime Minister Imran Khan also inaugurated the building of Gomal Agri University, Pakistan Agriculture Research Council’s (PARC) Arid Research Stations, and the Command Area of Gomal Zam Dam.
In his address at the ceremony held in this regard in Dera Ismail Khan, Prime Minister Imran Khan reaffirmed the government’s commitment to bolster the production of agricultural products in order to meet the requirements of the growing population.
The prime minister said that we have done all the planning to locally produce all the essential items including pulses and palm oil. For this purpose, barren areas will be brought under cultivation besides ensuring better management of water and promoting research in the agriculture field.
Imran Khan was confident that Pakistan especially Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will witness a revolution in olive production. He said that Pakistan has the most suitable land for olive cultivation and it will be able to export it to earn foreign exchange.
