ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has urged the medical universities to focus on nursing programs by increasing the number of nursing students so as to meet the shortage of nurses in the Country.

While chairing the Senate meeting of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University (SZABMU) at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Thursday, the president asked the medical universities to improve the quality and standard of medical education to make it attractive for foreign students.

The Vice Chancellor of SZABMU Professor Tanwir Khaliq gave a presentation about the role of the university in providing medical education.

The meeting endorsed the minutes of the first Senate Committee as well as approved service rules for the university.

The Senate also approved the annual budget of the university, besides endorsing the nomination of two Deans for the Syndicate from Senate and one Member of Senate for Finance and Planning Committee.
