ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday stressed the need for imparting quality education to students to uplift the Country, and said there was also a need to develop a mechanism that ensured effective evaluation of students as well as the Universities’ faculties.
While addressing an International Conference on Assurance Quality in Islamabad, President Arif Alvi said the capacity of teachers should have been built keeping in view the latest technology.
The president also urged the Universities to impart education to youth keeping in view the demand of market and industries. He said their Universities should have looked at cooperation with the industries in order to produce a market oriented workforce as was the case in other Countries.

In his address at the Conference, the Minister for Federal Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood said the government would gradually implement a uniform education system in the Country.
Shafqat Mahmood said scholarships would be given to 200,000 students in five years under Ehsaas Program, and one million students would be trained through Startup Pakistan Program.
The US Ambassador to Pakistan Paul W. Jones and the Chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Tariq Benuri also addressed the Conference.
