ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for promoting the dairy sector to generate employment opportunities in the Country as well as earn foreign exchange by exporting dairy products.
While talking to a delegation of the dairy industry led by Mr. Syed Hasan Raza which met him at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Monday, the president said that the dairy industry needed to be strengthened and developed along modern lines as it played a vital role in the growth and development of the national economy.
The delegation briefed the president about the issues and challenges being faced by the dairy industry.
The president assured the delegation of government’s support to address the issues of dairy producers and processors by providing them a level playing field and enabling the environment to enhance milk production.
President Arif Alvi said that the government had focused on this sector to enhance economic growth, ensure food security and alleviate poverty in the country.
The president also underscored the need for skill development of people associated with the dairy sector and creating awareness among them about the advanced dairy techniques so as to enhance yield and quality of produce.
The president urged all stakeholders to devise a national strategy and forward-looking policy for the development of the dairy sector. He also appreciated the role of the private sector in promoting the dairy industry in the Country.
