ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Water and Power Khawaja Asif has said that Pakistan will soon become load shedding free Country as a four-year journey has been yielding fruits now.

In a series of tweets early Tuesday, the minister said that no un-scheduled load shedding was being carried out across the Country.

The minister said that as on June 13, the power demand in the Country remained 18,871 megawatts while the power generation was recorded 16,989 megawatts.

Khawaja Asif said that the shortfall of electricity in the Country remained 1,882MW.

In addition, the water and power minister also gave a brief comparison of four years in terms of average power general and shortfall as Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has been in power in the Centre since 2013.

The average production of electricity in the Country, according the Khawaja Asif, has reached 18,052MW while it had been 11,240MW in 2012, 11,804 in 2013 and 16,352 in 2016.

Since its arrival in the power, the PML-N federal government has been taking concrete steps to overcome power crises which had previously almost crippled the routine life.

Meanwhile, the federal government has allocated Rs 377,543.165 million for various ongoing power schemes and new projects under Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for next fiscal year 2017-18.
