Government of PakistanPoliticians must be given respect equal to judges, generals: PM Khaqan

PASRUR, Pakistan: While voicing his concerns over ongoing wave of accountability against politicians in the Country, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Saturday said a politician must be given the respect equal to a judge and a general.

While addressing a gathering after performing the groundbreaking of dualization of Pasrur-Sialkot road in Pasrur, the prime minister said the Country would not develop if a politician did not get due respect. He said a politician served the Country despite many difficulties he had to suffer.

Khaqan Abbasi said the former Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif served the Country for 30 years and he was disqualified on Iqama issue.

The prime minister further said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) believed in the politics of service and decency. He said the PML-N government during its tenure had executed unprecedented development projects in infrastructure, gas and power sectors.

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif had done unprecedented work in the Punjab province.

Talking about the Sialkot-Pasrur project, the prime minister said it would change landscape of the area and open up new opportunities for the people.

The prime minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone of Narowal-Lahore-Sialkot Motorway link road project.
