ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan will soon perform the groundbreaking of the Nullah Lai Expressway project in Rawalpindi, the Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said.
The Nullah Lai project will be executed by the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA).
The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on December 22, 2021 approved the project of Land Acquisition for Lai Expressway & Flood Channel in Rawalpindi worth Rs 24,960.70 million
Talking to the media representatives in Rawalpindi on Monday, the interior minister further said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will fully participate in the upcoming local government elections, and hoped it will also emerge victorious.
When asked about the protest campaigns of the opposition parties, the interior minister said that they may go ahead with their marches but will not get anything out of it.
Sheikh Rashid said that the government has always remained successful in getting the bills and motions passed from the Parliament, and the opposition parties only faced defeat in the House. He said the government went to the International Monetary Funder (IMF) under compulsion.
The minister also said that the armed forces backed by the whole nation will confront the menace of terrorism. He said that our security forces have rendered immense sacrifices to eliminate the terrorists.
